ABOUT US
Meghan Selinger
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Psychology, from the University of British Columbia in 2001. I continued my studies at UBC for law school. In the fall of 2004, I began my legal career at a full-service law firm in the Fraser Valley. There I had the opportunity to practice in the areas of family law, insurance defense, civil litigation, construction law, as well as conduct prosecutions on behalf of the Federal Crown. In 2007, I returned to Vancouver and began to exclusively practice family law at a boutique family law firm. I have greatly benefited from the opportunity to work with excellent family lawyers prior to co-founding Silver Selinger LLP.
I am a member of the Canadian Bar Association – Family Law Subsection, where I was the Co-Chair for two years and was previously an elected member of the CBA Provincial Council (Vancouver County). I am a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C. and was part of the Education Planning Committee. I am also part of Collaborative Divorce Vancouver and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. In 2014, I was an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, Allard School of Law co-teaching the course on Family Law. I am a previous author of the Family Law Sourcebook updates, have contributed to the Law Society Checklists for Family Law and sat on the Editorial Board of the CLEBC Family Law Practice Manual. In addition to writing, I have chaired family law courses and been a presenter through the Professional Legal Training Course, CBA, Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, TLABC, Pacific Business Law Institute, as well as other guest presentations.
Outside of my work, I can be found reading, swimming, and spending time with my family and friends.

I received my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of British Columbia. After graduating law school in 2007, I completed my articles at a national law firm and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2008. While my legal practice began in the areas of wills and estates litigation and family law, I have practiced family law exclusively since June, 2009. For 11 years prior to co-founding Silver Selinger LLP, I practiced family law at a boutique family law firm where I honed my Collaborative practice and out-of-court dispute resolution interests and skills, learning from and working alongside leading family lawyers.
I am a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, current general member and former long time board member of both Collaborative Divorce Vancouver and the B.C. Collaborative Divorce Roster Society.
I value contributing to ongoing legal education and I have been a regular presenter at events and lectures put on by Continuing Legal Education, Professional Legal Training Course, Trial Lawyers Association of B.C., Canadian Bar Association, the Pacific Business Law Institute, the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law, and community resource seminars.
When I’m not running a law practice, I’m planning adventures locally and abroad and exploring the beaches, mountains, farmers markets, donut shops and bike paths with my son.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University in 2017 and 2018 respectively. In 2019, I was awarded the Dalhousie University Medal in Philosophy. I went on to the University of British Columbia for law school, where I received the Nancy Cameron, KC Prize in Family Law in 2020. I was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2022.
I spent the first year and a half of practice as a sole practitioner working exclusively in the area of family law, primarily supporting low-income and Legal Aid clients. I have developed broad experience conducting litigation files in the Provincial and Supreme Courts, drafting agreements, and assisting clients in negotiating settlements.
I value promoting access to justice and continue to volunteer with Rise Women’s Legal Centre, where I assist in training student clinicians and family law advocates.
In my law practice, I strive to meet each of my client’s unique needs and help them identify their priorities. I am committed to providing approachable, plain-language legal services and to promote my client’s agency and self-determination as they navigate their family law matters.
Apart from my work, I enjoy spending my time training in aerial acrobatics, working on jigsaw puzzles, and sharing the company of my cat.

Raised in northern BC, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree from UBC in 2016, where I earned a major in Art History and a minor in Creative Writing. I obtained my law degree from UBC in 2020, when I received the Arthur Close, QC Price in Advanced Legal Research and The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin Legal Access Award.
In my second year of law school, I completed a summer clinical externship in family law at Rise Women’s Legal Centre (“Rise”), a non-profit organization. There, I provided pro-bono family law services to women and gender diverse people, including in-court representation. After law school, I completed my articles at Rise in family law, and then continued on there as a staff family lawyer for a brief period. I then practiced family law at a boutique law firm in downtown Vancouver for over three years, prior to joining Silver Selinger LLP.
While my practice is settlement-focussed, I am an experienced litigator and regularly represent clients in court. I value continuing legal education and promoting access to family law services. I continue to volunteer with Rise by teaching seminars to new students on financial issues in family law and mentor newer members of the BC family law bar.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, cooking (mostly eating), fitness and arty-things.
